The health of the skin can be compromised in a variety of ways. The interaction with environment is the main cause of skin diseases. A Broad classification would be thus(Only a few are mentioned, there are more than 2000 diseases that directly and indirectly affect the skin!):[

1. Hereditory Diseases: Dry Skin, bullous diseases etc

2. Infectious Diseases: Herpes, Wart, Impetigo, fungal infections etc

3. Disease due to Allergy: Eczema, contact dermatitis,   urticaria.

4. Diseases of unknown causes: Psoriasis, Lichen Planus (Some causes known, some not!)

5. Cutaneous manifestations of systemic diseases: Diabetic skin conditions.
